Gospel Explanation

The Bible, God’s Words to us, is absolutely true. It tells us:

God made everything in the universe – from tiny cells to the galaxies. His most special creation is YOU. He loves you and wants you to live with Him in Heaven. God’s Word says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” But, God is perfect and does not allow sin in Heaven.

Sin is anything that we think, or say, or do, that breaks God’s rules (such as thinking we are better than others, lying, complaining, disobeying, and cheating). We have all broken God’s rules. God’s Word says, “For all have sinned…” Because of your sin, you are separated from perfect God. But, He had a wonderful plan.

He sent His only Son Jesus to take the punishment for your sin. Jesus never sinned. He was perfect, just like God. When Jesus came to earth, He willingly gave His life when he died on the cross. Three days later, He proved His power over death and over sin when He came back to life! God’s Word says, “Christ died for our sins … He was buried and raised on the third day…”  He did this for YOU!

If you believe in your heart that Jesus died to take the punishment you deserve, you can be forgiven! God’s Word says, “…everyone who believes in Him (Jesus) receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”

If you would like to do that today, just ask Him! If you agree with this prayer, you can say it to God:

“Dear God, I know I have done wrong things. I believe You love me and sent Jesus to take my punishment so I don’t have to be separated from You. Please forgive me for my sin. Help me live the way You want. Thank You for forgiving me! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

If you believe this in your heart, you are saved!

Now what? God wants you to get to know Him better and live in a way that pleases Him. God’s Word says, “Grow in the…knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” You can go to a Bible-believing church, pray to God, and read the Bible (start in the book of Matthew).
